It will be important to know the product or service you will be purchasing, have experience in the field, and have industry contacts with whom to consult. The procurement person is responsible for ordering equipment such as computers, office furniture, all of the big ticket items that it takes to run the company. Still having to keep the budget in mind. It's a big job and probably a thankless one.
