Can a computer engineer checking my computer trace the pages I have visited even if I clear forms and history, cookies and temporary internet files? Is there a way to prevent that? How can I eliminate any stored information about websites I visit?

Piece of cake!!

If I had a dollar for every time some DUMBA$$ on this forum said, "all ya have to do is delete your cookies, and temp Internet files, history and so on and so on" I could friggin retire early!!

I have seen more stupid answers regarding this topic than any other...if you really think deleting your history is that easy I have yet another bridge in San Francisco to sell!!! AND ANYONE WHO REALLY BELIEVES THAT EVERYTHING CAN BE DELETED FROM INTERNET EXPLORER WITH A FEW BUTTON CLICKS NEEDS TO GO TO THE GAMING FORUM AND HELP PEOPLE THERE AND LET THE ADULTS HANDLE THINGS ON THIS END!!!

Anyways...learn where your specific user files are hidden and you are set...if you don't know already do a search here and look through my sarcasm and you will find the answer...got to make you work for it....

By clearing your browsers history, cookies, and temp files you eliminate the pages where you have been. However, network engineers/admins can place tacking software in your system that you cannot see, storing the pages you have been to. Unless you leave your computer in the hands of tach savvy people, you shouldn't have a problem (if this is your home computer). If this is a computer at your work or school, than you have no rights to the data stored in your system and your company security policies may include the use of web tracking software by their network admins. This would be to make sure you are not viewing subjective material that is not work related or visiting sites that may cause viruses and worms to be unleashed in your company causing your job to loose important confidential data.

I understand that the computer will always have this information stored deep on the hard drive somewhere. Any computer Geek could find it I am sure!!! I doubt that there is a program to stop this, I mean then how would Big Brother be able to control our computer usage ya know!!! I would still look around for the software though, ya never know!!!

Even using something like a 20 000 write over of all the space on your hard drive it is fairly easy to find out what you have been doing. the only certain way is to bin the HDD and put in a fresh one. Apple had designed their new operating system that was vitrually untracable and I know the 20 000 write over will fool most engineers but the police could easily find out what's been on their

all computers make a "history" of where you have been. If you want to avoid people finding out where you go on the net, use a proxy and/or use a library or other"free use" computer:)
