Great spirit = always cheerful
Noble-heartedness = chivalrous

Sounds like somebody is receiving a medal.

Look at it from Kant's perspective. This is a person of good will, doing good for goodness's sake.

Personally , I think a great spirit should always reflect the mood around it, and; a noble heart should struggle to make itself known, not necessarily fight the good fight. You can be happy when it is right to be sad and good when it is right to be bad. Think Germany WW2 the Nuremberg trials.

I think it means they have the courage to be who they are no matter who they're around, and that who they are is a generally caring person who tries to help others and do the right thing. Maybe they don't always succeed, but they have to try because that's just who they are.

Hmmmm, if someone said that to me, I would think they mean I am fun-loving and outgoing. I would also think they feel I am a good-hearted person who is willing to help others. Either way, it seems like a compliment.
