I haven't heard anything about that or thought about it...but she is such a good author that when she finishes Harry Potter I hope she keeps writing something. A series about his parents might be cool, I think she's a good enough author to pull it off without making it stupid or corny.

I hope not. There are few things worse than when the try a new spin on the same old story line. It seems like our culture right now can't think of anything new since all the movies are remakes of old tv shows or movies or just recycling the same plot with a new title and characters. What happened to originality? I love the Harry Potter series but a spin off would totally turn me off.

No, she won't, because she said so and I believe her. She's said that Harry Potter and writing in a fantasy universe was a one-shot inspiration for her, as she doesn't actually see herself as a fantasy writer. The tale of Harry Potter was conceived to be this great big epic and when it is done, it will be whole and complete. Any kind of sequel or prequel would detract from the greatness of the Harry Potter epic.

J.K. Rowling has said that she has other fiction ideas brewing which are straight, reality-based fiction. And she said she's thinking of writing under an assumed name so that her next work won't be automatically compared to Harry Potter.

I honestly think that she is sick of her Harry Potter series and so I doubt she will she always seems so negative about anything to do with future writings.

However I wonder wether the next book really will be the last when theres so much Harry's got to do and hes not really going to have much to do with the school.

I remember this being a huge rumor a few years ago, even after JKR has repeadedly said no. Read the direct quote from her website:
http://www.jkrowling.com/textonly/en/rumours_view.cfm?id=6

Rumor: I am going to write a book about Lily and James once I've finished the seven books about Harry Potter

JKR: Hmm... once again, too much Star Wars can do this to a person. No prequels are planned.

I don't think so. People would expect them to be as good as the harry potter series and they just wouldn't be. Then her reputation would go down several points. Personally, I think she is done writing about harry and either she is going to enjoy her large fortune and family, or she will start writing something new, maybe a biography or new story.

It would be really smart of her to do so. We the reader hardly knwo anything about James or Lily Potter and this would be a good way to get to know them better. I doubt she will though, I dont think she really wants to write any more books, but we can always pray that she does.

My understanding from all I've read is that she's finished the last book, she's done!

As far as I'm concerned, she went from amazing to awesome. The books are compelling, amazingly written - inspired, really, and one more reason for us to be grateful to England. I'm just waiting for her (J.K.) to become an OBE, but the queen will probably wait another 7-10 years to honor her with that (because she's a little young).

Jo has said that she won't write prequels. It's a little too much like Star Wars
