where did u get this rubbish? I understand your wish to avoid chemicals, but how about a little thinking?

water bowl?? this way actually, only flying-by insects will simply get drowned, nothing to do with anybody´s safety, to be sure. if u wish to atract insect in large quantities, the bowl has to be yellow (the dish soap is for helping them get drowned) that is established fact. but again this attract mostly flower-visiting insects that are no harm, because they mind their flowers - like male mosquitoes, too. so yes, if u place a bowl with water, insects will get drowned in it. this will never affect your safety. but if it should somehow cut down the local population of bloodsuckers, then it is plain nonsense - you have to try eliminate the places where they are born - like odd cans where rainwater stands still, etc, for mosquitoes, trash for flies.

and u cant be serious that one dose of yeast per month can deter fleas, can you? Yes, B vitamins, can little bit deter some blodsucking insects (not sure about fleas) but it is expelled from body on a day-to day basis, cannot possibly stay inside for that long. so if i had to combat flea infestation, i would ask for the collar, not yeast once in a month. - i have tried daily high dosage of B vitamin complex when i was in wetlands with lots of gnat, but i soon gave it up as doubtful

mosquitoes are attracted by elevated concentrations of carbon dioxide, so if u have some dry ice, thye will flock to it, same way they sometimes flock near the places where naturally carbonated water springs out
