I have Cable Internet but whenever I try do Windows Update it says (can not find an internet connection.) I think it is trying to find a present Dial-up connection. How do I make it so that it detects my broadband connection?

ok goto internet options click on connection tab set up new internet connection next click set up manually then choose connection that is always on click apply reopen the browser and got to windows update

Delete your dialup connection.
Re-establish your cable connection.

change your default settings in Inernet explorer to never dial, and auto discover in lan settings
