>>>In the USA, cats have 9 lives<<<
That's what I thought too, when I was a little girl.
We had a cat who died, and I thought, "It's okay ... he'll wake up soon because he still has 8 more lives left!"
But, of course, it didn't happen.
Took me a while to get over that one!

Cats in the USA have 9 lives so the saying goes it might be different in other countries though.

I live in the USA and that's a silly question! Do you really think cats have 9 lives? They only say that because cats are very curious creatures and get them selves into all kinds of danger by being too curious, some live and escape their fate and some die because they couldn't escape! They are just like all living things, (ONLY ONE LIFE)!

USA, I have three cats. Nine lives, one of my cats has been hit by a car three times, been bitten by a snake (copper head), shot with a 22 hand gun (crazy little boy down the street), and mauled by a dog twice. He is six years old, guess he has only two lives left.

In Canada, our cats have the standard 9 lives. And they spend them being very polite.

usa and technically 1.... but cats are said to have 9 because they take life/death risks often and survive an average of 8 and on the 9th one the cat dies.

Well, I'm from Georgia, and hereabouts, cats only gots one life, and that's usually pretty brief. Dogs gittem, mostly, but then there's all kinds of diseases and congenital defects and syndromes, and rednecks do run them down, or bobcats eat them, or gators, or hawks or bears or boars.
I've been here 16 years now and we've run through something like nine cats. Love the little critters. But they just don't hold up well under pressure.
