The chances of food poisoning, though a valid fear when dining out, is pretty slight. I'd choose a place that has high marks by the public health department for cleanliness. Believe it or not, places like McDonald's and KFC have very stringent cleanliness and food handling procedures that are time-tested and effective.
Although I'm not a fan of frivolous litigation, suing a restaurant for the costs associated with your food poisoning (medical treatment, time lost from work/school, etc.) is valid.

I don't know any places to eat there but wherever you go check for the health rating displayed in the establishment. If the number is low don't eat there. Also it's a good idea to let the management know why you are not eating there. Perhaps they will clean up their act so no one suffers your same bad experience. On the other hand complement the places with great numbers and eat there often. GOOD DINING!

No I am not, had food poisoning once in my life. Was lying in bed for 10 days, could not get up for long; stayed by the restroom and sink most of the the time. Many symptoms.Dizziness, hot &cold. Lost much weigh in a very short time. I am already not big. Finally able to visit my MD who was shocked when he saw me. I looked yellow and skinny. He thought I had jaundice. LOL. Not sure I would appreciate going trough this again. But I do not worry about this.

Check the health dept. rating. Avoid chicken. I got food poisoning last week from a popular place no more chicken when I eat out.

Go to McDonald's. Fake food poisoning and sue them. Then use the money to hire a chef. Use cameras to make sure the food isn't poisoned. Then eat.

Look for an A rating in the restaurant's window!
You can look at user ratings and reviews at business/restaurant locators like Yahoo! Local:
http://search.yahoo.com/yp?ei=UTF-8&fr=slv7-msgr&p=
That's a great place to start if you're looking for a particular type of restaurant - in any neighborhood.
