well- you can make a lighthearted joke about it-if you have that type of relationship, and hope they get the hint, or you can say, 'listen, I am saying this because I love you and don't want people to push you away. You deserve to be respected, but this is really gonna hinder you...what I'm trying to say is that people have been telling me in confidence that you don't always smell good. Maybe you should concider changing deodorants??

Never had this happen, but, since they are close to you, they would probably really appreciate if you were to approach them about their hygiene than to have a total stranger do so. You don't want someone to cringe everytime your loved one speaks a dreaded "H" word (hhhhello...hhhhi...hhhhow are you), or have a stranger hold their breath due to not being able to withstand the massive onslaught of B.O.

Tell them nicely! They will appreciate it! They may not be able to smell themselves, but you shouldn't have to either.

Well Love the person or not, I feel that if it occurs to be an issue the King will respectfully tell them!! Now, If they want to have an attitude when I'm only trying to help, I tell them to "chew on this!!"

Have an open conversation with them. Talk about it like it is you and see if they relate. As in, God, do you ever get stinky.....What do you use? I tried powder and it worked real good. Or, ask them if they ever take bubble baths or stuff like that to get them thinking or interested. Try that.

Just joking about it!, like " someone hasn't taken their shower today" or " I see your taking a break from brushing your teeth" or " Wow, Dad I can't believe Mom still kisses you even though you have coffee breathe".....joke about it & they'll get the hint

My lil bro is like that.
We all tell him to take a shower, or use deorderant, but he just refuses to. Weird thing is he has tons of girlfriends. Guess they can smell!

they might not be able to DO anything about it. I have a friend who washes constantly and always wears deoderant, but shes got a sweat problem so she always smells a little funny.

Well, that sucks. I had a friend like that. It was embarrasing for me. I didnt know he was homeless until after he died. You have got to tell them, a real friend would do that.
