I heard Benny Hill was born in Southampton, England--is this true? That is my birthplace. I was wondering if it is his, as well.

just bought 500 minutes dvd set of his benny hill shows.

Dave Allen at Large...The Paul Hogan show before he became Crocodile Dundee...the Two Ronnies...and then there was Benny Hill...there are no words.
I have seen Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney in a movie...in blackface...wasn't impressed. A whole host of 'Hollywood' old time stars wearing that makeup...and the 'behaviour' that goes along with it...simple...I just don't watch anything they are in after I see the evidence with my own eyes.
But Benny's rendition of Mr. T from the A-team is the exception. No words...just gales of laughter. I did everything but pee my pants. Hilarious. A true dirty old man. And I will watch it whenever I get the chance.

You are correct! Born Jan 21, 1924 in Southampton & died April 20,1992 in Teddington England. He was a very funny entertainer!!!

I can't stand him. I find nothing remotely humourous about a fat old little man chasing around half naked women on TV. I'm glad humour has moved on a lot from the days he was around.
