I think most people are missing the point of the question: yes, it is a dispicable word that should not be used by ANYONE; but my question is more in line with the double-standard surrounding the word. Please keep your answers in that context.

I think I'm going to need to make this a question open only to black people.
Here's what I mean: If two black people use the n-word, it's no big deal. If a white person says it to (or about) a black person, it's a problem. I'm saying what is likely to happen if a half-black person were to say it to a black person?

I agree that the n-word is a detestable word that NOBODY should use, but let's be real, we are in a world that uses, abuses, and in some ways, even glorifies that word. I appreciate the Political Correctness, but it has no place in the answer that i"m looking for. Thank you.

I just look at it like this, if you want to use it just be prepared for some of the repercussions of it. That's with anyone...period. I have friends who are mixed who say it all the time so I guess if you have "some" black in you its okay, but I really don't agree with using the term at all.

Hmmm....maybe they should only say the first half of the word. Or just the last syllable, depending on which side of the family their blackness comes from. LOL. This question is slightly humorous to me for some reason. I know several biracial people who say the word, wholeheartedly. I never care what people say, although I don't use the word, personally, just so as not to be a hypocrite. In my mind, if folks don't don't want white people saying it, then NObody should use the word. I don't really hear the word unless I'm watching a comedian's CD. I don't care what other people say.

Sadly enough the last time I heard it it came from a black persons mouth and was directed at another black person.
Now to answer your question I don't think anybody should say it with out repercussions.

I think it's disrespectful for anyone to say that word. That word means ignorent and i don't know why people think it's cool to use that as a greeting.

Why is it all right for anyone to say the "N" word you don't have to be white to be a raciest.
