Your body will be buried within a week depending on how fast your friends and family can get the whole thing set up. The energy within will be redistributed into another form. Past that I believe all theories are up for grabs.

My personal opinion...we simply decompose. We are extremely complex creatures, and I cannot explain the origin of life with any scientific or spiritual certainty - but I do believe that death is ultimate - for both body and soul.

If we are to look at the only "evidences" we have of people who have had these near death experiences, it appears some form of us continues on. How you define that, is up to you. Your consciousness, your soul, your mind... As people often describe being able to "see themselves" in an out of body experience, it appears the journey in many ways does seem to be upward.

When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we (then) verily be resurrected

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Apostle said, "When carried to his grave, a dead person is followed by three, two of which return (after his burial) and one remains with him: his relative, his property, and his deeds follow him; relatives and his property go back while his deeds remain with him."
