This is my second pregnancy. I have one 2 1/2 year old boy. Im just about 7 weeks and I didn't having this bad of morning sickness with my son. It's just on and off all day. Im also working this pregnancy and with my son I wasn't. Does morning sickness (all day) mean you're having a boy or a girl, or does it even matter?

No, morning sickness varies with every woman and with every pregnancy even for the same woman, and it is not an indicator of whether you are going to have a boy or girl. There has been no scientific link connecting the degree of nausea while pregnant to the gender of the baby. There are old wives' tale, but as we all know, they're not true most of the time.

The best way to know is to have an ultrasound to determine the gender of your baby.

Goodluck!

Well I had morning sickness when my 1st born was on it's way . It turned out that it was a girl. But I put it down to, too much beer the night before. I never had morning sickness with the other 2, a girl and a boy. I now have 6 grand children and 1 great grand child. I am a very proud GREAT GRAND DAD.

NO! Morning sickness does not mean it's a girl or a boy. It means that you are in the first trimester of pregnancy where you are more likely to be ill with morning sickness. Although I have known others who get sick throughout their pregnancy, it is more common in the first trimester. Only an ultrasound can determine the sex of a baby.

I would say that having morning sickness all day DEFINITELY means you're having a boy or a girl. :-)

Seriously... you'll hear a lot of goofy things from people who tell you old wives' tales about how to determine whether it's going to be a boy or a girl. One of the most unusual for us: with our first pregnancy, my wife "bloomed" in the middle trimester, with that great healthy glow that some women get. Several people told her that this was positive proof she'd have a boy, because "daughters suck all the beauty out of you."

Yes, that one was a girl. I told my wife that she clearly had so much beauty that having a little sucked out of her didn't hurt her any. Yes, I'm a total sap, but I'm a CUTE sap.

NO. That's a wives tale. Actually you heard it wrong - The wives tale goes, "If you are having a girl you will have morning sickness due to the high levels of estrogen".

All of this is false. If you like wivestales you should read the book
"Do blue bedsheets bring babies?"
It's really a great book.

There's no way to tell until you either;
Have an ultrasound or have the baby.

Good Luck and Congrats!

well, i believe too that it doesn't determine the sex of your baby, but in my case it did, stangely. i had 4 kids, first was a boy and i had really bad morning sickness the entire first trimester, the 2 girls afterwards, i had very little morning sickness, and when i had my 4th, was a boy, oh, did i have morning sickness, couldn't hold anything down. it was a good guess for me, i also guess that my 4th would inherit red hair, and he did! the first 3 had blonde hair, but the last pregnancy was extrememly uncomfortable. i called it quits after he was born.

NO.....

Morning sickness, also called nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP), or pregnancy sickness, affects between 50 and 95 percent of all pregnant women. It is also sometimes experienced by women who take birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy. The amount of nausea can vary from mild amounts to actual vomiting. In extreme cases, known as hyperemesis gravidarum, hospital admission may be required to correct the resulting dehydration.

When it occurs
Morning sickness is not confined to the morning: nausea can occur at any time of the day, though it most commonly occurs soon after waking, perhaps because the stomach is empty at that time.

Morning sickness usually starts in the first month of the pregnancy, peaking in the 5th to 7th weeks, and continuing until the 14th to 16th week. For 50% of all sufferers, it ends by the 16th week of pregnancy. For the other half, it may take up to another month to get relief but some women will have morning sickness off and on for their entire pregnancy.

Causes
There is insufficient evidence to pin down a single (or multiple) cause, but the leading theories include:

An increase in the circulating level of the hormone estrogen. Estrogen levels may increase by up to a hundredfold during pregnancy.
Low blood sugar during pregnancy.
An increase in progesterone relaxes the muscles in the uterus, which prevents early childbirth, but may also relax the stomach and intestines, leading to excess stomach acids.
An increase in human chorionic gonadotropin.
An increase in sensitivity to odors.
Eating vegetables[citation needed]. Vegetables produce a small amount of toxins to deter insect infestation and while these toxins are normally harmless to humans, they are potentially dangerous to embryos. One theory suggests that becoming nauseated during pregnancy is an evolutionary measure to prevent a mother from eating vegetables, thereby protecting the embryo from the toxins. Other studies, however, have linked consumption of fruits and vegetables to higher birth weights, which tend to mean healthier babies.

i dont think that morning sickness has anything to do with the sex of your baby..afterall EVERY pregnancy is different, as you see with your second child..i also have a 2 1/2 yr old boy and with him i would get sick in the evenings...weird huh?..there was no pizza eating for me!! ok that was gross but anyway maybe since you are working while pregnant it is a bit of added stress that well, when pregnant might be just enough to throw you off..good luck to you!
Things that helped me:
_small but frequent snacks..things you and baby like!
_taking a small break..stretch, walk, whatever works
_a day in bed relaxing, writing, reading
_backrubs and lots of them!
