i'm sorry to tell you this, but i believe you are in for a hard ride.
:(
in St. Louis, it's likely the only jobs you are going to find are going to be low paying labor jobs, without benefits.

that is to say, you might be really lucky and find an employer who either knows you and wants to give you a chance or find a kindly soul who believes you just made a past mistake.

but the chances are slim.

as someone who lives VERY near st. louis, MO, i know how scarce decent paying jobs are for anyone, and if you have things like a conviction on your record, your not going to be a very appealing choice.

my prayers are with you, stick with it and you might find a good one!

Go to the employment office and fill out the information and they will tell you what is available. You never said what the ex-prisoner was in jail for so it is hard to tell you just how employable they are but the employment office can not discriminate against former inmates. there are laws against that. in the same token If the ex-prisoner was down for child molesting I wouldn't hold my breath for a job at a day care center.

Try Vocational Rehabilitation. Call and make an appointment.
You might also try St. Patrick's center downtown or the Salvation Army. They can counsel you. Good luck.
