pros and cons of DSL and Cable
Cable:
pro - independent of distance to ISP server (speed remains always the same)
cons - share bandwidth with other users on the same line (cable)
DSL:
cons - dependent of distance to the ISP server (the more away you are the slower the speed)
pro - no share of bandwidth with other users because the line is unique to each consumer

Presently, DSL does not provide any substantial benefits over cable. Cable still presides as being able to deliver more data packets per second resulting in faster latency or speed.
To prove this point, if you have availability to both, open command prompt. (Start - programs - Accessories - Command Prompt)
type: ping yahoo.com and hit enter
take note of the time
Do this on both DSL and cable.
In light of the fact that the world of packet delivery is highly competitive and worth billions, what I just mentioned here could obviously change. But, this is the present condition as I know it.
BTW, cable companies are constantly adding more hops along their lines to provide customers (especially business clients) with dedicated bandwidth service. The battle for supremacy in this market will continue until a monumental event occurs that will change everything. At that point, all the gentlemen will start their engines for the next race.

In my opinion the best one for me will be DSL.
DSL is a modem that connects between a DSL filter and a phone line, which connects to the TCP/IP at a high velocity in which it's set.
Cable uses a long connect switch between a Cable Modem, and a cable tv; between these two they can connect and interact each other to the internet.
In you situation in a small business, the cheapest is DSL; I have it and it's really good very fast and very affordable for your pocket (depending on the speed) the price average for DSL is between $15 - $50. Depending on the velocity that you get; (1mbps is the intermediate; *$25)
Cable it's a little bit more expensive, you can get it; the cost is between $30 - $50.

Although DSL is a dedicated line at your home or office, at the demarcation point (the central office), it is hooked into everything anyway very similar to cable.
About the only advantage is cost. 384K DSL can run you as low as $12.99 a month. Cable costs significantly more (usually around $45 a month). Cable can slow down during peak times because the nodes located in your neighborhood are typically set for a shared bandwidth of significantly lower than the bandwidth of the entire system.

DSL is dedicated bandwidth, possible throughput determined in part by what you contract for and in part by your distance from your Central Office and line quality. Whatever speed you get, you will have regardless since you are not sharing.
Cable is a shared bandwidth transport. As more users are added to a segment, the slower everybody gets. Had cable initally and it was great. Then more users were added to my segment without upgrading the segment's capacity. Throughput went down hill fast. Now I have DSL and its speed is a bit slower than cable initially was but at least it is consistent and will not degrade.

Both are faster than dial-up but cable is faster than DSL. DSL is ok for home for someone but if it is a business I would suggest cable because it is a lot faster and it will not bog down if using multiple computers on the net at the same time.

In my experience cable is much faster and more reliable than dsl but if you are looking to save money then you can still get a descent connection speed from dsl.

Yeah see its like this,
Cable modem pricing is like getting F***ed in the a** without a condom.
DSL pricing is like getting F***ed in the a** with a condom.
so to sum it up, DSL is slightly better. but either way, you'll get screwed.
