ok so im looking at picking up a 98 integra that has a Jackson Racing supercharger. it has a vacuum leak though cause when i start it it races up to 3k rpm and drops and so on. i know the leak it between the supercharger and the intake, but its going to be a pain to get to. what can i expect to pay for it to be fixed and should i bring it to an Acure/Honda dealership? i also talked to a mechanic today and he said the supercharger is too much for an integra, i know thats bull, so does anyone else have one installed?

You might want to reconsider the idea that the supercharger being too powerful is "bull"; I say this, because here's what we know...

- The supercharger was installed incorrectly, causing a vaccuum leak;

...and here's what we can surmise...

- If the person who had the supercharger installed was willing to live with it in this condition, how do we know it was *ever* installed properly -- and in that case, how do we know that he had the engine internals upgraded properly (not to mention the clutch/tranny) to handle the additional power?

Let's face it: anyone with a credit card can order a supercharger, follow the instructions and get it mounted -- but that doesn't mean they did it right, or that they performed the necessary improvements to support it.

You'd be much better off finding a non-charged Integra (say, one that's never been modded, owned by a secretary or something) and building it up the right way from scratch.

return the car.

if you don't know how to find a vacuum leak then maybe it's too much for you. check your lines for pressure under load. if you still can't find any you might have a blown head gasket but i doubt it.
