Seriously, relax. It is the first day of summer, you have at least 60 more days to swim. Most periods only last 5 days. It is not the end of the world. It is a part of every woman's life, get some tampons and get on with it.

Don't be scared. Having your period is nothing to be afraid of even though it might seem like the end of the world. It's not. Your period will last about a week, usually a lot less in younger teens. If you want to go swimming get some tampons and you can use those. They are quite comfortable to wear and you don't have to change them as often as pads. They make special thin tampons for younger females.

honey, i feel your pain. i got my period for the first time ONE day before i went to a swim camp for a week. i was terrified. but i used a tampon and it was fine. but warning, tampons are hard to use for the first time, so bring like 10 to try with. also, i recommend the slim teen brand since you're just starting out. its a lot more comfortable, trust me. also, just try relaxing for a little bit. you can maybe tan in the sun, go to the mall, catch up on movies, etc. there's better things than swimming, especially during that time of the month. just wait it out. i don't swim now that i have my period. well, i do, just not when its that time of the month, you know? you can still have fun with a period. for real. i'm living proof. but that fun DOESN'T have to come from swimming. good luck!

You must ve been pretty horrified. When I got my first I felt like it would never stop, I thought that everything will change. But believe your period will last from 4 to 7 days then it will stop and you can swim and everything. Then it might repeat next month or for a few months.
It will become part of your life and you will get used to it.
During your period you shouldn't work any hard physical activities.

I am dying laughing at the "It's good to be a man" comments! How funny!

Try a slim tampon.

Don't be scared. Just get all the information you can. Mark down on your calendar when you start. Then when you start again, mark that down. That is your cycle. A lot of women believe that you go from the end of one period to the beginning of the next period. It's not. It's the first day of your period.

And you can go to www.tampax.com or other sites and track your period. You'll know when you'll be menstrating so you can plan around it if need be.

Your period won't last all summer. A few days out of the month will keep you out of the water. If you want to swim that bad, use a tampon.

hey. getting your period is a scary thing but it doesn't mean the end of the world. if you want to carry on swimming use a tampon although when you swim your periods usually stop in water anyway. although, if you don't want to use a tampon then i suggest for you to try any other sports as doing exercise while you are on helps prevent cramps. maybe try yoga which is brill if you are on as it stretches the abdominal.

Your period will only last a few days. You can go to the store and buy tampons. With those you can still wear a bathing suit and not worry about getting spots on it. Just make sure to go to the bathroom and change it often.

It will only last for a few days and you can still go swimming, even on your period.

It is rough, ask your doc or mom about tampons and you can swim. It really is just figuring a way of living around it. Just like any other "affliction", you learn to deal with it in time. It really is a pain but not the end of the world. You will learn "tricks" and ways of dealing with it, really you will... I know it sucks and is easier said than done, but there is a way!
