The US is not a great nation because the government has lost sight of its citizens inalienable rights. I am not going to use government so freely, but the Bush Administration is so used to demanding and ordering people to do what they want. We are not a good nation because we have problems here at home with poverty, poor education, homelessness and so many more negative things and the Administration is focusing more on forcing other countries to be more democratic when we are turning into a communist government, so to speak. The government is dwindling in its superiority because they do not stand behind their citizen. They would rather our nation be deprived and under privileged. I say this because who is top priority to our government: the rich, foreigners and other countries that do not follow the advice and direction of the US. The US actually pays foreigners to come to the US and go to school or open businesses. What about us...the tax paying citizens not illegal aliens...we need help to live comfortably but our only recourse is to gain public assistance that hinders you from advancing economically. Our jobs are over stressed with work and under paid for the output of work. We as citizens let this happen because we ignored the Bush Administration stealing not 1 but 2 presidential elections.

100 years ago, when we weren't in debt to the Rothchilds up to our neck, people were starving, freezing and dying (prisons weren't big then- they just killed you), almost everyone went to the bathroom outside, very few had lights much less the Internet, even less had running water and they had to boil that (even though boiling won't get rid of the lead they used to put the pipe together) and people from everywhere were coming to America because it was the greatest country in the world. And why was that? Because it had potential. Well, now you're spoiled and expect someone to take care of you, and that ain't gonna happen. The great potential for this country is still there but you've got to get off your butt to make it happen. If you don't like what's going on then get out there and change it. If you think that the country is being taken over by a bunch of illiterate foreigners, go find one and teach him how to read English. He'll appreciate it and you'll have something to feel good about. If there is rampant drug use in your neighborhood, get some recreation going. Kids usually do that stuff because nobody pays any attention to them for whatever reason. Quit whining and make this place great!

So, what nation is great? As others have said all countries have their problems. We complain that our gas prices are high, well the majority of the world pays double what we pay. Many other countries have a huge tax rate (to the tune of 40%) in order to provide health care. You may have health care you just can't live. There are many more homeless people in other great nations (go visit London, you can't walk a couple of blocks without seeing a gypsy asking for money). However, there is plenty of opportunity in this country to find a job and excel. I'm sick of hearing of the homeless when those that are young enough (under 40 right now) and fairly healthy can join the military. Oh that's right there's combat going on and I don't want to die. Oh well, guess you can throw that opportunity away.
So, this country isn't the greatest but it's one of the best and provides the most freedom in the world. Not to mention the opportunities to succeed if you're willing to do whats necessary instead of wanting the government to bail you out. What other country would have forked out billions to those from New Orleans for 8 months in a hotel? Which country provided the most support for the Tsunami victims in the Indian Ocean? Where can you say what you want to without fear. And the list goes on and on. If road conditions, homelessness and lack of a lawyer on retainer are your concerns there are other places you can live.

Bit of a contradiction in terms with this question. You said it What a great country indeed. Well with all the bad points of your question about the USA. Stated. How come SO many people from SO many countries from around the World will risk their lives to be able to get to the USA. Illegally or Legally. Something About the USA. Keeps on attracting them to her shores. It must be Agonising for someone like yourself to be in a country you admittedly hate. Have you ever thought of leaving the USA. And going some where else. At least you would be making room for someone who would appreciate the chance of finding these things out for themselves. Because there are other countries around the world. That are far worse to live in.

This is the greatest country on earth. No country is perfect because no human is perfect. I do notice that you didn't blame the people for the position that they are in. Of course it's all the government's fault right? This country has more opportunities than any other place on earth. It's what people choose to do with those opportunities that determines their place in life. In Detroit and New Orleans we have so many people who have grown up with the entitlement mentality of the left. They have spent generations on the govenment rolls that they no longer know how to fend for themselves. Notice that those cities have been run by Democrats for years. Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.

i take umbrage to the assumption that you can buy justice. there are many many people who have money who go to prison and many who don't have it that don't go. public defenders are REAL lawyers who have a job to do and do it well. The reason that many people who go to jail who had the public defender, is because...wait for it....they were guilty!!!! Lawyers are not magicians, and cops don't bring charges until they know they can stick.
as for people who have the money to hire private lawyers, what they are involved in is usually more complex that simple street crimes like robbery, rape, etc (which is what the public defender sees most of the time) and as such, it may be that they did not commit a crime, or if they did it was different than the one they were charged with. Also, with the money, they likely have less of a criminal record than your typical street thug that the PD sees every day. ANYONE with a light or nonexistent criminal record is going to see leniency the first time aroud....a fine or suspended jail or probation.
before you knock our legal system, which admittedly isn't perfect, you should understand it. Making sweeping statements merely shows your own ignorance.
ps if you don't like america, we won't miss you, try another country and see how 'great' it is.

i'm undecided how effective that must be, with basically approximately (if no longer) great powers like Turkey & Iran donning something i'm undecided how effective it may. there is already "The enterprise of Islamic Cooperation" this is a company of basically approximately all Muslim-Majority international locations with observer states like Russia. the two or, the Ummah as of excellent now could be amazingly chop up which replace right into a purpose of the western imperialists who colonized the section. wreck down the section into smaller international locations to combat Pan-Arabism / Pan-Islamism. The Muslims have in user-friendly terms ever been effective while working at the same time. @ t o I disagree. the U. S. isn't as sturdy as you're implying. Vietnam and Afghanistan have been the two mess united stateson united states of america's section. united states of america did see conflict on their land, 9/11. no longer finished on battles, yet that doesn't truly ensue except international locations are close to to a minimum of one yet another in proximity. the U. S. is a lot far flung from each and every person lol, if Iran as an occasion despatched it truly is army on the U. S., the U. S. could see them coming from miles (lol actually) away and could have a incredible purchase of time to prepare a counter-attack. the two or, china and russia are huge allies of many muslim international locations. Idk what you're conversing approximately once you're saying "they do unlike them very lots." @ in user-friendly terms sturdy Muslim = ineffective Muslim Are you dumb? First most of the richest international locations in the worldwide are muslim. 2nd, the entire worldwide did no longer combat nazism, are you stupid? this is why it replace right into a worldwide conflict, if the entire worldwide fought little Germany the conflict could've been over in weeks. "there is no difference between a Nazi and a Muslim." you're mentally challenged, i'm executed with you.

One, name a better country. Just because the U.S. isn't perfect - what is? - doesn't mean it's not the greatest nation in the world.
Two, if you don't like it, MOVE!!! Here are some suggestions, see if you would prefer these places to the U.S.; France (rampant racism, riots, thousands die every year in the summer heat), China (couples must petition the government to have a child, if you have one without permission the government kills it), N. Korea (its population starves while its insane leader lives in the lap of luxury and goes around threatening everyone).
I could go on, but there's no point because some people just hate the U.S. no matter what. Like I said before, if you don't like freedom, liberty, and self-determination, go live somewhere else.

Try living somewhere that you have no sanitation, no law, rampant disease, no food stamps, no medical care, civil war, no electricity, no economy, no running water, no roads, no telephones, no equality, no good soil, no tools and then say this is not a great country. Having to pay bills , or walk somewhere, or go to jail for something you did wrong, or go to the housing authority to get your rent, or go get food stamps is hardly something to ***** about in the scheme of things. Just being born here guarantees you are better off that 85% of the rest of the world's population. Dude...you need a crash course on gratitude. You are a spoiled punk.

After WWII the military industrial complex needed a sworn enemy to keep from demobilizing the military and sacrificing the jobs and profit they had enjoyed during the war. We chose to make the communism and communists the evil enemy of America and embarked upon a cold war in which we amassed massive amounts of weapons and made lots of money for our defense industry. A side effect of the cold war is that we clung to capitalism as the answer to all of our countries problems just as Russia and her allies clung to Communism as the only way to go. Because of this, many social programs we might have tried were labeled "socialist" and were never even attempted.
