Used to block the harmful effects of radiation. They dumped boron onto the reactor at Chernobyl, in the Ukraine to prevent more radiation from spilling out of it.
And all atoms are not the same....saying that they're all the same except for the 3 things that make up the atom is like saying a car and an airplane are the same cause they're both made of metal.

all atoms are the same except for quantity of electrons, protons and neutrons
