I hope the question is 3/2x - 1/4 = 1/x and slove for x
3/2x - 1/x = 1/4 (moving 1/4 to right of = and 1/x to left)
3/2x - 2/2x = 1/4 (taking lcm of 2x and x)
(3-2)/2x = 1/4
1/2x = 1/4
ie 2x = 4
or x = 2

Your equation is not clear. I will assume that it is (3/2x - 1)/4=1/x

If so, follow these steps:
1. Multiply both sides by 4, getting (3/2x - 1) = 4/x
2. Multiply both sides by x getting 3/2 - x = 4
3. Transpose 3/2 from left to right, changing sign: -x=4-3/2
4. Change sign of both sides x= 3/2-4, or 1.5-4 or -2.5

3/2x-1/4=1/x? Find the common denominator, which is 4x. so... 4x(3/2x - 1/4) = (1/x)4x becomes 6 - x = 4. subtract 4 from each side, so you get 2 - x = 0. so x = 2. Having problems with Algebra, huh?

(3/(2x)) - (1/4) = (1/x)
Multiply everything by 4x

3(2) - x = 4
6 - x = 4
-x = -2
x = 2
