A good name is one that means something to you.
Something special you see in that horse.
I know some one whose horses papered name is Chicken Lips he was a race horse. He is now called Beau.
They name race horses some pretty awful things some times but they all have a barn name and most know that one instead.
Name your horse something that means something to you or wait awhile and find out what his personality is like.
Some days mine is called butthead. His names is Leo he came with that name and he knows it so I left it.

I work at a stables with over 100 horses! We have used some great names. We have horses named after Native American Tribes, movies, important people, other animals, and everything in between. I like the name Beatrice. It can be anything at all. We have horses named Beau, Shotgun, Rebel, Redneck, Murph, Maverick, Pete, Dolly, Lucky, Bailey, Barley... you get the point.

I name my horses by their personality. Like for instance we had a silly little guy that was always getting into things when he was young, so we named him Doodlebug! It started as just a nickname, but then it stuck. To this day that is still his name, and he's my champion show horse! Good luck naming!

I always thought it might be neat to name your horse brown beauty if it was brown, white beauty if it was white, and so on. From the book Black Beatuy, of course. But I like Arabs, and I saw somewhere that "Braq" (I think that was it) is Arabic for Lightning, so that would be a neat name for an Arab. Depending on the color, you could name it after different flowers. There are a lot of names i could think of for a horse (If I had one! :(
