Yes it's legal; If I were you I would try to make some kind of arrangement to pay it because, they could report it to the credit bureau and that could effect you credit score. After three years I doubt if it is the store that's calling you it's probably a collection agency that the store has hired to harass you until you pay the money. If you are working now, I hope you will try to pay it and get it out of your life, even if you have to pay so much at a time. Beleive me it's not worth the aggravation to let it linger.

Yes, I would pay it as soon as you can. My mom did the same thing and 3 years later they were still calling her. They will stop at nothing to get their money. They might contact a lawyer or debt collection agency and take you to court. The same thing happens with bounced checks. If you dont show up then you can go to jail depending on where you live because it is considered stealing in some states. It will also ruin your credit score.

Totally legal if you borrowed $1000 (just an example) then you owe it...they are not in the business of giving away money but making it.
Those places usually charge 25-30% interest times that by 3 years and you probably owe them a fortune. They probably passed your account over ot a more aggresive collection agency.
I am sorry about your baby but they will not care they just want their money.

There is no statute of limitations on an unpaid bill, they can try to collect it forever. It will, however, drop off of your credit report 7 years after they last report it unless it goes to collections, then it will stay until 7 years after they last report it. This will negatively affect your credit until you deal with it. Ignoring it will not make it go away.
You know, I don't want to preach but they were there for you when you needed them. You have a legal and moral obligation to repay them. I am certain they will enter into payment arrangements with you.

Hi.
I know it sucks, but you will have to pay them back! They will want lots of interest too. These are a bad way to get fast cash...especially if you don't pay it back immediately. I'm pretty sure they will be calling debt collectors on you, and charging you a lot of back interest. Sorry to tell you this!
Good luck...
Melissa

Yes. There's no deadline on incoming harrassment calls. It's already on your credit history. Do yourself a favor and pay it a dollar at a time if need be.

They will probably report to you a debt collection agency and your credit will be ruined. They won't give up on trying to get the money.

they can collect on it forever, and i hate to think about what your interest rate is now! i am surprised that they are calling though. when i worked at one of those places we usually stopped after 6 months. so that means one thing.....they are probably getting ready to take you to small claims court
