I recommend this to everyone because its so great. http://www.purevolume.com you can search genres and top artists and stuff and they have the pages of alot of independent and underground artists. So you can be ahead of all your friends.

There is a music magazine that is printed in the states that specifically caters to the college music scene and lucky for you they have a website. If you desire, go to www.cmj.com and you will find a plethora, a varitable smorgosboard of new music in a variety of genes. If you would like to buy the magazine, you will find music reviews of new and upcoming artists arranged in a format that is easy to read and digest. There is even a handy dandy RIYL section (recommended if you like...) which I always find handy.
