Sometimes bruises dont appear till later on, or you dont notice them, until there is a big purple mark on your shin and you wonder where you got it from? Sometimes we are caught up with so much to do, if we bump or even just have a slight knock we dont pay attention to it and forget about it till its later on. Unbelievable the corner of the matteress can cause a problem to catching bruises easily. Perhaps you are having night terrors causing you to lash out at things even not realising your thumping yourself.

If this is as your Dr says a viral infection, it could be you are run down and can not fight off the virus. Some viruses can last a year or more. If you are still worried go back to GP and ask for second opinion. Taking a multi vitamin such as Centrum could help build you up but check with GP first as taking too many vitamins is as bad as not enough in some cases worse

When your blood is too thin it will cause you to bruise. Do you take aspirin or a blood thinner? Prednisone or other steroid use will also cause bruises. Other diseases or deficiencies will also cause bruising. Too numerous to mention here. You should tell your Dr so he/she can rule out the cause. Don't let this one go if you are only looking for an easy answer. Go to the Dr.

go to a doc and get bloodwork done, you may have a clotting disorder. my friend has the same prob, and she has something like hemophilia but i can't remember the name. anemia can make you bruise easily, but i don't think just in your sleep. that sounds like something more going on.
