If our government was "truly" concerned about the health and safety of the US, then they would enact laws about how much alcohol you can consume in one hour. As more people are killed by drunk drivers every year compared to the number of people who are killed by second hand smoke (if there has been any).

As far as that is concerned why doesn't the government tax alcohol sales like they have additional taxes on cigarettes. If they are concerned about the health of our nation, then why don't they enact laws about the consumption of this drug as well?

It appears to me that smokers are being discriminated by the majority of non-smokers. Cigarettes are more heavily taxed than any other consumer item in history.

No the government of this country is not concerned with our health you see the health care is a joke. The government is a joke and we are on the opposite end talking about it, what we as hate voting public put in office. That goes to show how much we paid attention to economics, and political issues of the world we live in,and also how little we paid attention in school when it was being taught to us. So we have to suffer the consequences or start education ourselves and becoming more involved with what is happening in to days political and economical world. We must stop hating on one another and help one another so that we all can live a prosperous life. To me it all seem like a game. We just need to know how to play the game only the RIGHT way, not how to get over to benefit self only, but also others we all live here on earth together and we need to exercise that freedom and not stay behind times with such hatered. That's not what God intended for us.So we need to strive for more and do better with spreading more love and learn how to help not hate.

I think that the smoking ban in many places is a great thing. I don't smoke nor do I want to breathe in someone elses second hand smoke. I choose to be healthy. The government taxes tobacco because they know that they can make a lot of money on it to help offset the raising medical and insurance costs of those that do smoke. The hope is that the higher taxes will discourage people from smoking.

It has no longer some thing to do with Marijuana's adverse outcomes, all of it has to do with the money and who's getting it. properly the numerous reason in the present day is Marijuana isn't owned or made through a organization on which the authorities can tax. no longer like the tobacco organizations which the authorities taxes very fairly and/or is paid large sums less than the table. also Marijuana and tobacco have very distinct histories. Tobacco became at one time a large participant contained in the commercial device, with out tobacco many small international locations probable does no longer exist in the present day. Tobacco became maximum small international locations in undemanding words export and they made a good number of income on tobacco. If tobacco were to modify places with marijuana then a %. of cigarettes in the present day will be referred to as a %. of spliffs.

It isn't up to the government to tell you what you can and cannot do to yourself. If you want to kill yourself, fine by me.
