Are people really leaving Fl because of hurricanes. I don't think so. For some, Florida is and has been their home for a very long time. It takes more than hurricanes for people to leave a place they love. In so many areas of the world there is a constant threat of natural disaster but most stay, learn to be prepared and rebuild, if necessary. I don't know where that one safe place would be if everyone left their homes because of natural disaster threats.

If they are, I haven't heard of it. Most of the people I speak to are starting to think of hurricanes as more of an inconvenience than as a disaster. We've been through so many in the past few years that it's not a big deal anymore.

Oh, for reference, I live in the Florida town where Jeanne and Frances made landfall, and Wilma hit us head-on from the other direction. Katrina and Alberto both passed over us as tropical storms, but that's not even really worth mentioning.

I don't see why not.

People leave their current state for other states all the time for any number of reasons.

For example, I grew up in Pennsyltucky (aka Pennsylvania) and over 4000 people left just a few years ago in one single summer because the state economy is an absolute joke.

So, for hurricanes....I could see people moving.

no people IS really not leaving Florida because fo hurricanes...what kind of stupid question is that. No one would live in the midwest because of tornadoes and no one would live in California because of the earthquakes either

Yes, lots of people are. They can no longer afford the skyrocketing insurance costs and the continual costs of repairing their homes. Many people have indeed chosen to move farther inland.

Ask someone who lives there, but I'm sure some of the people did that because of the weather situations.
