Yes from the government it was called small treasury notes and ran from $3-$50 but not everyone accepted them.
Also private bank also issued 3 dollar bills but all of this was in the early 1800s.

No, there was never a $3 dollar bill - at least not in the US. There was a $2 dollar bill which the US Mint printed about 20 years ago. But, afte a year, the $2 dollar bill never caught on with the public and the US Treasury decided to discontinue printing it. Currently, these bills are collectibles.

I have no idea if there was a $3 bill. But I know there is a $2, because I have one.

There are in Arkansas. Once some counterfitters in Texas made a mistake and their printer made perfect
$9 bills. They were so perfect they did not want to destroy them, so, after brain storming, one said that he was sure they could pass them in Arkansas. The drove to AR,, out in the country to alittle general store.
They handed a $9 bill to the owner and asked if he could change it. "SURE", the man said, reaching into the register drawer.
"You want a $3 and a $6, or three $3s?"

I don't think there was one,there was a two dollar bill,but not a 3 dollar bill.

just went to a ghost town museum in Colorado Springs and they had 3$ bills on display there.
