I would suggest to do something different. Write the card as if your baby is writing it.
Dear ,...... my mommy and I would like to thank you for your generous gift. Mommy told me she has planned to buy me some wonderful things that i need. etc etc something like that maybe you can come up with something even better?

A very polite thank you for the cash gift, I appreciate your thoughtfullness and it will come in handy for the baby's needs. If you want to be more specific you could say, after the thank you for the cash gift, we plan to buy the baby a bassinette/stroller/new mobile etc. It makes it more personal.

With etiquette no one uses "cash" in a TY for "cash" or money, whatever.
Best bet is thank you for joining in the celebration of our coming baby (bundle of joy) and for the gift. We are blessed by great family and friends. That type of thing.

You could write "Thanks so much for attending my baby shower and giving me the gift of choice, I think I'll use it to buy _________ for the baby."

start by writing "thank you for the cash....I'm sure it will come in handy for the baby and her needs....that would be a good start...
