As long as you are sure of what you wantand where you want it, then go for it. Your body is a temple, decorate it!! Just make sure that you pick a reputable shop and an artist that you get along with.

In reply to Hamsterboy's comment... The ban against tattoos was part of the Mosaic law and pertained mostly to the regional practice of tattooing symbols of false gods. Jesus and his sacrifice were the end of the Mosaic law, including the one against tattoos. Do you eat pork? If so, then tattoos should be no problem.

I'm a female in my thirties. Just got my second tattoo last year. Make sure its meaningful and that you are willing to live with it forever. Take some time to think about it. If you wondering if other people think its "bad", you probably don't really want it. You can't care what people will think because its too late to take it back once its started. I waited several years (age 18-23) to get my first one and more to get my second. Words of advice...do not get a person's name on your body....you just never know. Things change. Make sure the place is reputable with experienced artists. Ask around. Oh yeah....and it does hurt, no matter where you get it.

I am 47 and have all just flower tats.

I also knew a 60 yr old lady that collected everything strawberry, she finally got a strawberry tat to complete her collection on her thigh.

I think tats are fine if you want them, after all they are only skin art but be sure of where your going to have it placed.
Can you cover it at work? Can you cover it at the opera?
Can you cover it up at a company party if it is a swimming party?
Can you cover it up at church functions?

These are the important questions you have to answer.

I got one of my first one's on my shoulder so I had to give up wearing sundresses, which were my favorite summer wear.

Tats should be personal, just for you or your exclusive significant other or just the people you want to share them with.

Placement is very important so you will be happy with them as you age more.

The other thing you should consider is the theme of the tat, is it Violent or Gruesome? Unicorns are nice when we are kids but not so much as we age. Guys names should always be a no-no!
Tribal tats are good since they don't really stand for anything.
Fruits, flowers, bird, butterflies, bees and other non-statemental tats work good for life.

I don't think it's too old. I got my first one at 25. My mom actually just got one last year (she was 45.)
Do what makes you happy no matter what age you are. Just make sure it's something you really like and not a fad tattoo.

Your never too old to express yourself! No matter how you do it! Just remember that in 30 more years, it may not look the same. For example, Tweety on your chest will end up looking like a vulture when gravity pulls everything down south...

You should definitely get one if you want one. I have 4 and I can't wait to get my next one. You are not too old, I am 30. Tattoos are awesome. Good luck, but watch out they are addicting!

I am 38 and just got my third tattoo for Mother's day. Just listen to me.... DO NOT get anything that you will not still consider good when your 80 and in a Nursing Home.

You can never get too old for a tattoo, but think about your decision VERY CAREFULLY. If you think you'll regret it when your 60 years old or something, don't get it.
