It was a pencil sketch with tiny details, yet thick outlining.

Well, I'd have to see the review as a whole. But, in general, if an art critc were to describe my work as being "bold," I wouldn't be insulted. I'd take it as being a positive comment.

it depends on the artist and how much he values the criticizm-personally if my piece of art was described as bold i would take it as a complement because to mean that would mean that there's a confidence in my piece- but otheras might not take it the right way because their defenition of bold is something else.

um. that's subjective. bold means daring which could be good or bad... i guess getting a response is a good thing, as long as your art inspireds it.

"bold" is kind of like "interesting" a word reviewers say when they don't know what to day.. perhaps your art is over their head... or perhaps they don't like it and they don't know what to say... so i guess it depends on the context.,

I would take it as a compliment. Trust me, if the reviewer didn't like it he/she would have found a different words to describe it. Maybe this reviewer helped you identify your style. The universe is speaking, listen up.

ther is no right or wrong answer when describing a piece of art work so if the artist feels offended by that dscription then it is his problem. if bold is how one feels about a piece, then so be it.
