I was wondering if someone can explain how to do questions like this.

6(4x - x) = 12x - 36

trying to find x

All so i was wondering how to do questions like t his

-10 - x > 36

thank you if you can give specific details!

first distribuit
24x-6x=12x-36
then
18x=12x-36
-12x
6x=-36
divide
x=-6

add x
-10>x+36
subtrack 36
-46>x
so
x<-46

6(4x-x) = 12x - 36
Order of operations: Parentheses, exponents, Mult., div., add, sub.
(First, parenthesis) 6(3x) = 12x - 36
(distribute) 18x = 12x - 36
(get like terms on same side) 6x = -36
(simplify) x = -6
(check- plug it in) 6[4(-6)-(-6)] = 12(-6) - 36
6(-24+6) = -72 - 36
6(-18) = -108
-108 = -108

-10 - x > 36
(combine like terms) -x > 36 + 10
(simplify) -x > 46
x > -46 , but there's a rule that the sign becomes the opposite of what it is when a number is multiplied or divided by a negative. SO, x < -46
(check- pick some number less than -46 for x)
-10 + 47 > 36 (2 negatives make a positive)
37>36
So, there u are!

you have to just do it like this

24x -6x = 12x -36

18x = 12x -36

then you subtract

6x = 36

x = 6 there you go x is 6

NEXT problem

-10 - x > 36
u have to subtract -10 from 36 to get the like factors on the one side kinda against each other and the line of division is the sign, like = or > or some limit where we know to separate.

anyway

now we have this
-x > 46 because when we subtract a negative it becomes positive
so,
x> - 46 so any number like -45 and up could be x

if you have questions, ask!!!

Ok i give both solutions:
6(4x-x)= 12x-36
or 6*3x= 12x-36
or 18x= 12x-36
or 18x-12x= -36
or 6x=-36
or x= -6
now, -10-x>36
or -10+10-x>36+10
or -x>46
or x<-46 (when you multiply by -1 as i have done , you need to change sign)

As I'm sure you know you have to isolate x
6(4x-x)=12x-36 --------- 6(3x)=12x-36 ------18x=12x-36-----
18x-12x=36------6x=36 ----- x=6
Works the same way for the other equation too
-x>46 and you go from there.

6(4x-x) = 12x-36
24x-6x = 12x-36
18x = 12x-36
18x-12x=-36
6x=-36
x=-6
-----
-10-x > 36
-10-36 > x
-46 > x
so x is any number less than -46

first multiply 4x and x by 6
24x - 6x = 12x - 36

then add like terms (x's)
18x = 12x - 36

subtract the x term from both sides to isolate it
6x = - 36

divide both sides by the coefficienct (6)
x = -6

6(4x - x) = 12x - 36
6(3x) = 12x - 36
6(3x) = 6(2x - 6)
3x = 2x - 6
x = -6
