The 4 teams in each group play each other. The two teams with the most points (win 3 pts, undecided 1 pt) advance to the next round. If 2 teams have the same number of points, they look at their goal difference (goals made vs. goals against). If that is also the same, they look at the result of the game played between the 2 teams. If they played to an "undecided", then they raffle off the next round. Sounds unfair, but what else is there - a "drink-off"?? THAT would be cool, though....

In the group stages each team gets 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. There are four teams in each group and they play each other once. The two top teams advance to the next round. After the group stage if your team loses, they're out. Here is a map to the later stages:

The top 2 in each group qualify for the knockout rounds.
A one match game then decides who progresses to the next round, until you get to the final. And the winner of that wins the World Cup

All of the above, plus:
If they are tied in points, the team with the best goal difference (goals scored minus goals allowed) wins. If they are still tied, then the team with the most goals scored wins. If they are still tied, too bad. It's a coin toss.
