A real man when said by a woman is someone that can hold a job, support himself, be clean, and learn how to love a woman. For every one woman I believe she has her own opinions of what a real man should be or is. Same for men, If Im a bum chick not doing anything with my life, hanging in the streets at the age of 23, I would not consider myself a real woman. If I was dedicated to all I do and held myself down, I would consider myself a real woman and that would go for the man I see as a real man. Some people just come out there face and want to dog someone.. so it might be used as a figure of speach... if it was said to you.. dont take it personal unless you aint a real man.

VERY GOOD QUESTION..
I think there can't be a generalized answer.. it's in the eye of the beholder. What makes a good man to me- might not be what that 'good man' defines himself as..
(maybe that didn't make much sense..)
But u are right.. how can we define the other sex without being them.
To some guys a 'REAL WOMAN' is stacked, 120 lbs and a freak..
to some it's a nice woman in church who takes care of the homefires..
It's in the eye of the beholder.

The phrase "real man" and/or "real woman" is an expression of someones opinion. When someone says something like that they are really expressing their ideal. For example, a real man to me is someone who can be manly while also being in touch with his feminine side. Someone who as goals and provides for those he cares about. My definition is most likely different from another woman's definition

The answer is so simple, even you should have figured it out. To a woman, a real man is one who is up to her ideals, whatever her ideals are.
A real woman is the one that comes closest to what you would like your woman to be,
There is no REAL MAN as such to all women. What one considers the ideal, another would give thumbs down to.

Psychologically/sociologically speaking, our parents play an important part in shaping our expectations of the opposite sex. I say that as we get older, peers, the media, as well as the imaginings of our own wants and desires from them all play some part in crafting our image of what a "real man" or "real woman" is supposed to be like.

I guess it would be the person's own idea of what a real man or woman is or should be.
