The response we get most often for early drafts is that it adds more realism to the game. Owners and GMs don't get to pick and choose their teams after training camps or pre-season games. If there is an injury - the real owners feel the pain.

Some fantasy leagues like bringing that pain into their game. It makes it all the more authentic. Like Big Ben and his motorcycle - in an early draft you'd be happy to have him. Now, we're not so sure. But the Steelers are stuck with their guy - and some fantasy leagues like to recreate that fun/drama.

I imagine it's a team by team situation. In Atlanta, the team runs a prospect camp (last week actually) where they invite up the kids to assess their development and also to give them a taste of what the NHL is like and what is expected of them. Some of the players will be invited back to training camp either because there is a chance they will make the team roster, or with more highly-touted prospects, the team wants to further assess their play and also let the prospects gain more experience against NHL talent. As for diamond in the rough prospects, I'm looking forward to seeing Machacek at training camp. And the stud Bogosian of course.

Some people just love the NFL that much, they can't wait until training camp. So to pass time and keep their attention, they just join a fantasy league early. The challenge is much higher to in correctly picking the right players.

Though in some keeper/dynasty leagues, they do the draft just to get it over with.

Doing drafts are incredibly fun ... I ended up having 20 teams on ESPN free fantasy football because I enjoy drafting teams.

Football fever drives this nation to rush out and get on as many fantasy leagues as possible.

My better teams, however, have been the later picked ones.

-Football 24/7 (in the States)
-Draft one ,draft another later
-Can't wait ,must draft NOW

I am in a Keeper league,we are not drafting right away.

I would be all for draft early, there are just too many injuries in pre-season though .Madden curse can always bite early too:)

I can't wait. I just like the feeling of getting my league, and gets me in the mood for football.

That's a dumb thing to do. Imagine you draft a star *cough*Michael Vick*cough* and he gets injured. That could really hurt your team.
