Well for a start low down area of countries will be washed away and so everyone will start moving further in-land.
That means that we'll all have to work with each other to accommodate people who have lost houses and got no-where else to live.
London might be OK since it's upon a hill but places like Southend, Brighton, Weston-Super-Mare won't be OK.
I have a funny suspicion that Miami might actually vanish along with any beach areas in the World.
Just a pity that no governments or people in powers care enough!
Mind you...they'll have their safety bunkers to hide in.

Well, I was listening to someof the answers, and have decided that some of these people are just too stupid to be allowed keyboards.
Yes, we live on an active planet. And yes, ice ages happen whether we drive our Hummers to the corner store or not, the thing is this (and why conservatives cannot grasp this simple fact is a testament to their tiny little, non-amigdala-having, lizard brains): our actions in polluting our environment is helping to accelerate the process of global warming.
Some chucklehead called An Inconvenient truth a propaganda stunt, probably because some talking head on tv told him it was. Unfortunately, it is not propaganda, since unrelated environmentalists and climatologists the world over have recently agreed that the claims made in the movie are actually UNDERSTATED.
Also, some clown decided to claim that Mars is unpopulated and could not cause global warming. Um, there might have been people there millions of years ago, clown. Your own arrogance is bigger than that clown-mobile you must have driven to get to this question.
Sorry, Questioner - I am pretty allergic to stupid people.

Ice has been melting and growing for hundreds of millions of years. Way before there were SUVs.
It's just so ignorance to think it's happening now because of the vehicles we drive. It's insane.
The planet Mars experienced climate change too. How'd that happen, without people causing it?

I'd like to know where the polar bears and Inuit (Eskimo's) are going to live. Don't we (Canadians) have a special obligation to make sure they are okay? They will loose a lifestyle they have had for 1,000's of years - they always seem quite happy up there and they don't want to come down here - after the melt not much of a choice. Sad

~I try to finish my drink before the ice melts. If I don't, the booze gets too diluted and warm. That's why I order martinis neat.
If you're referring to the polar ice caps, don't worry about. Sea level will rise to such a level that, with the collateral effects, mankind will cease to exist. You'll be long since dead, though, so you needn't start making plans. The planet will survive and Darwin's creatures will have yet another chance to get it right.

The majority of large cities are by the sea and if scientists are correct, many will be submerged. However a factor overlooked is that many of the agricultural areas of the world are low lands too and thus there would be major food shortages. Inevitably there would be wars to take or protect the remaing croplands. In short it would bring chaos to the world as we know it today.

If the global warming problem is truly man made by the consumption of fossil fuel, don't worry too much - by 2050 we will have the economy of 1850. The cause will be based on the baby-boomers retirement bill colliding with the energy crisis. This is based on the knowledge that Renewable Energy can't directly compete with the energy that creates it.

the sea level will have raised over 20 ft, flooding the coasts all around the world, especially India. the cold water from the ice caps will turn the gulf stream cold, which currently brings warm water to Europe. Once this happens, Europe's climate will turn cold too. Because of all the flooding, millions of people will have to evacuate. they will be forced to live in small cramped areas. there there will be a food shortage leading to the spread of disease.

It will be wet but not for very very very long time. I hope you aren't getting freaked out by the new movie An Inconvenient Truth. This is all propaganda. It is a fact that the earth is constantly heating up and cooling down. It is an active planet. We are going to be just fine.
