I am 19 years old and I love to dance. I never really took dance classes as a child aside from one at a school when I was 13 for a few months. I do, however, absolutely love to go out and dance, particularly when the dance is choreographed. I am really interested in finding dance classes in my area for my age group and really interested in performing. Usually, these classes are targeted to young teens and I would prefer to take classes with adults. I am located in the Charlotte Metro Area in North Carolina. Anyone familiar with the area who has any suggestions? I work 40 hours a week so I'm looking for night classes.

I'll vouch for the quality and scope of the School of the North Carolina Dance Theatre, as it is a school affiliated with a professional company. Hence, they have the resources to offer a fuller complement of adult classes. Here is a direct link:

Their "Open Division" offers Adult Beginning Ballet, Adult Intermediate Ballet, Advanced Beginning Jazz, Advanced Jazz, Adult Beginning Modern, Advanced Modern, Teen/Adult Tap, Ballroom, Pilates and Aerobics - all with evening hours.

I'm sure your yellow pages can also direct you to many studios that specialize in ballroom, swing, etc, that are geared for older dancers like yourself. You weren't specific about the kind of dance you're looking for. But many ballet-based studios also offer a few adult classes in various styles, so just be sure to specify that you'd like an adults-only class when calling around.

I dance now, and that i'm in an individual ballet type. relies upon on what your tender in..you could positioned on a skirt and leggings with a leatard or a pair of sweats and a t-blouse in case you want. will be fairly more straightforward with a skirt. i for my area like donning leggings with shorts on acceptable and a leatard below tender and funky :)
