I've always wanted to pierce my nose. My parents were super strict growing up so I never got it done. Now I am a working professional, age 24 making $60k/yr. I'm afraid I will lose respect with a nose ring. Do the clear ones work? Is there a better way to hide a Nose Stud?

Do the clear acrylic work? I also read about getting a silver stud and just using flesh colored nail polish. I need to cover it for work until it heals. Then I can just put one in for special occasions.

They're called retainers. And they can work pretty well. A teacher I had last year would put a retainer in because she couldn't wear the piercing at school, and put some foundation over it, and you couldn't tell at all. I think it mostly depends on how small the gauge is. I don't know your situation, but keep in mind that retainers should not be used as a stud/ring. It shouldn't be left in for extended amounts of time, and can only be put in after the piercing is fully healed (which can take months). It's not a subsitute.

The only way to hide the piercing is to replace the stud with a clear one, unfortunately you can still see it and honestly on some people it looks like a zit. With the clear one it is less noticeable, but you are also NEVER supposed to change any piercing from the original piercing ring until the hole has healed entirely. Thanks to my stupidity my body rejected a belly ring and now I have a scar. Piercings are nothing to play around with and if you don't think it would work well into your life now, then it isn't in your best interest to get one.

no, you can still see them, when you get your nose pierced, they tell you to avoid wearing makeup, it can cause infections in the piercing. they say about 4-6 weeks to heal, but everyone i know that had there nose done at a professional peircing store, took a few months to not hurt when being touched and be able to switch the nose rings to a clear one. the make up could cover it, but it still sticks up, if people were more than 5 feet from you, they would notice.

You can get ones that have a magnet on the back, and try it out to see what kind of reaction it will get, and if it's a bad one, just laugh and tell em it was a joke! for crying out loud!

My gf got one and covered it with a bandaid.
She looked like a freaking dork, tho!
(But I love ya, honey!)

The retainers for piercings are usually clear but you can still see them. I use to wear one on my eyebrow and one on my labret. You can't see them from far away but once you get close, it looks like a clear piercing. People used to comment what I had on my eyebrow because they didn't know what it was. So... yes you can see them.

You will lose respect. People do judge books by the cover, Like it or hate it, it's reality. You have to choose in life between so called 'freakdom' and 'normalcy'. Normalcy is rewarded with bigger paychecks and more respect. Right or Wrong it's a fact and I wouldn't risk it, but that's me.
