A great team, yes. Not the best ever. Fot the best ever, you would have choose between two Yankee teams, the 1927 Yankees or the 1998 Yankees. You may also have to consider the 1986 Mets. The "Big Red Machine" would be somewhere in the second half of the top ten.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh yes,the Big Red Machine!!! For my money the best team of my lifetime! I will add I became an Orioles hater after what the great Brooks Robinson did in the '70 series! Dont forget Gullett,Billingham,Nolan,Borbon, etc!

They had one of the best teams in the 70's but so did the Oakland Athletics.......

if you forced me to pick between the 2 teams I would take The Bench and Concepcion led Reds Over The A's Any day......

Not Because I hate the Athletics either.....

Go ANGELS........

No, but I believe they had one of the best offenses ever. Bench, Perez, Morgan, Concepcion, Rose, Foster and Griffey were all stars or above average players and Geromino was a great defensive CF and an average hitter. If their pitching had been better they would be the greatest team ever.

They were a very strong team. I hated them as they beat my Dodgers often. Rose, Morgan, Bench etc were near unstoppable but best team ever?! No that would have to go to The Yankees of 20's with The Babe, etc. they by far were teh best team ever in MLB

It is pretty hard to argue that they were not of the top 10 teams of all times if not the best of an era. It will be hard to keep teams like that together with salaries and free agents. I loved going to Cin. to watch them play and I lived in New York.

Of course they were!!!!!! There will never be another team like that one. I was in high school at the time. A friend of mine actually pitched for them. I have a picture of him and Johnny Bench hugging when they won the world series.
