I have turned it off and restarted, I've disconnected the entire thing, etc. but still it only blinks on when the power is turned on and then goes blank again. What can cause this, is the monitor beyond repair?

One thing to try s to see if it only happes in certain resolutions.
You may have a hard time doing this (may need another monitor or system) but see if it works with the computer in a higher res mode.
Chances are though it's pooched, but many shops might be able to fix it for $35-$100. Take it to an electronics shop (NOT a computer shop) and see.

Check you connections between the PC and the LCD first, make sure they are good. Then try to diagnose your video card, it may be the problem first.

It's not beyond repair, but it might not be worth repairing. It'll probably be $100 just to open it up and look at it.

I had this problem today. Try setting the brightness to minimum and see if it works. If it does, the backlight is dying.
