A HUGE movie on Disney Channel that like 17 million people watched! Its about A guy named Troy who is a basketball jockey, and this girl named Gabriella. In the frst movie they are randomly chosen to sing kareoke at a New Year's eve party in the mountains somewhere. Then Troy goes to a school called East High but didn't know that Gabriella just moved to Alberquerque, New Mexico and now goes there. They first see eachother in Drama class where they hear about a audition for a Winter musical. Since they both discovered that they have a mazing voics and loved singing together on the New Year's party, they are having thoughts about signing up. There are 2 problems. This popular mean girl named Sharpay and her brother Ryan always star in the school musicals as the lead. And Troy doesnt't want his b-ball friends to know about his singing. Sharpay is totally jealous of Gabriella because Troy is spending alot of time with Gabriella instead of her. So watch the movie, it is really good to find out what happens next. Also watch High School Musical 2, it just came out and it is the sequal! Hope this helps your understanding!

I've heard of it, and have it on my Netflix Queue List for the next time around I believe. It is supposed to be terrific! Being a Broadway buff and not being able to get to NYC to see all the shows, the movie versions are the closest thing I get sometimes:). Rent is a great story from what I've heard of it, and I am anxiously awaiting to see it:)! I love the music from it. My favorite song so far is "Seasons of Love". It's such a powerful choral song!

because they havent, theres a lot of great musicals noone ever heard of... and i havent heard of the movie but ive seen the live production

Rent is the best play ever!!! Saw it in Atlanta GA at the Fox, took my sister, we had a blast!
Another good one if you get the chance to see it is Menopause! All woman should see this play!!!

Some people don't care for musicals.
This one seems to have been harder to translate from the stage to the big screen.

I know a lot of people who do like it, but thanks to "Team America", I can only think of The Aids Song at the beginning.

rent is a really bad movie. it has a bad influence on kids so that they will do drugs, etc.
