The ones I've met have been very nice. My boyfriend, in fact, is Iranian. I am a native of Texas, USA, and live in a large university town, so I've met many nice people from a variety of Middle Eastern countries. They add spice to the community! I have not visited the Middle East yet, but will visit Turkiye later this summer.

I'm a 23 year-old male from America, and sadly, the farthest east I've ever been is Cleveland, OH. Personally, I can say that I have no negative feelings towards people from the Middle East, but a lot of people think that religious extremists are just that--extreme. No religion is immune to having people with a massive devotion to their faith. At least you don't have a leader in your country who is not only a devote Christian, but is also dumber than a box of rocks. For now, we'll call this leader "W" (I think you know who I'm talking about). Many people have the sinking feeling that "W" sent troops to your neck of the woods in order to bring him religious closure, as well as help his chums in Texas corner the oil market. Its very unfortunate that this is going on, and I can tell you as an American that not a lot of people feel that this is a just cause for action.
In response to the second part of your question, I feel that a lot of Americans feel pretty positive about the Egyptians. Many still remember that Anwar Sadat worked with Henry Kissinger to bring peace between Egypt and Israel, and since that time, those actions have not been forgotten. I have a friend from Egypt myself here at college, and I give him a lot of credit for staying positive while those less tolerant than most have caused him trouble during his stay here in the United States.

I've been to Europe, but never the middle east...BUT!
I know an Egyptian guy we call Sal. He is a hoot & every one adores him. He is very down to earth & always has pretty good insight since he sees everything from a totally different point of view. If Sal is indicative of Egyptians, then I say they are pretty cool.
BTW-I am 37 and an American.
