I know UPN and WB are merging, so what channel is it going to be and whats going to happen to the other one. For example, if the WB is channel 5 and UPN is channel 9, then they merge and the CW airs on channel 5. What happens to channel 9?

Also, when does this "new" network launch?

The CW is going to launch on September 18, 2006. Here's some more info about it from www.wikipedia.org

The CW Television Network, or more casually The CW, is a new television network in the United States set to launch for the 2006-07 television season. Launching Monday, September 18, 2006, it will feature a mixture of programming from both UPN and The WB television networks, which will both cease independent operations. The network, which will target younger viewers, is a joint venture between CBS Corporation, owner of UPN, and Warner Bros. Entertainment, a subsidiary of Time Warner, majority owner of The WB.

Most non-CW stations will join My Network TV, a sibling network to Fox, which launches on September 5, before the CW. As of June 15, over 150 stations have announced affiliation with My Network TV, including WWOR in New York, WFTC in Minneapolis and KELO (DT2) in Sioux Falls.

It will launch September 18th. I work at my local WB station and we are in overdrive to make sure everything is ready by then. I'm not sure how your channels will change. Check with your cable company.

Your best source will be to contact your cable/satellite provider. They will be the most reliable source to tell you if they will be carrying the new CW channel and where it will air.
