Remember first that there will be many people in your life; you will meet and come to know a large variety of people. They will effect your life in various ways; love, hate, indifference, etc. But very very few will actually fall into the category of true friends. Don't make the mistake of calling everyone you know your friend, because it just isn't so. Making that mistake is the first step in being constantly let down by people.

Second, know that in order to have faithful friends, you have to BE a faithful friend. If you've given everything you can towards a friendship, and received nothing similar in return, then you're calling the relationship by the wrong name.

Third, remember that we're all human and sometimes make disasterous mistakes that could hurt people we care about. A true friend will forgive these errors in judgement and give a second chance. Sometimes even a third, but don't push it farther than that, as you may be fooling yourself.

Understand that you can't expect someone to overlook your shortcomings and failures if you're not willing to overlook theirs.

People come and go in our lives; I believe that every relationship is necessary because one person needs something from the other. One person may come into your life because they need to learn a certain life lesson (it is not your place to decide WHAT that may be); another may come into it because you need to learn something from them. When these lessons are learned, these people often fade out of our lives.

A true friend is not only someone you can learn from and teach, but someone you're meant to share a longer journey with. You can't just decide that this will be the case, it happens on its own. Honor that person and that journey with truth and faithfulness, and you will often get the same thing in return.

Good luck in your journey.

My perspective of faithful friend/ someone who gives and never expect anything in return/ one whos honest about everything even if it will hurt a little bit/ and in return all he/shes want in return is; if he/she makes a mistake hope the other party can forgive/ that the kind of friend i am.

Youth groups can be helpful. But no matter what there are going to be issues with friends. No matter how long you know them, you just need to forgive we are not perfect ourselves and hoping for perfect friends will only leave us to be alone. Be forgiving as someone else said. If you ever have a slip up they will be there for you thats a true friend. Not someone who appears to be perfect. Good luck!

You can't plan to meet such people. They come to you in various ways and once you get even ONE (all you really need) you hold onto that person for LIFE because they will have your back no matter who or what comes alongs or happens. I have had such a friend for the past 17 years and I am incredibly greatful to have her.

Hmm. Well, I have the sam problem. My best friend and I used to be very close. Now, he barely even calls me! I should not be upset, but I am!!! I called him, and asked him how the girl he liked was. He told me it was none of my damn business. Really, no one is perfect. So far, I have had very litttle luck with friends. Plus, now, u have gained a friend!
