If you have your XP installation CD, put in in the drive and if it 'auto-runs', just Exit the window that appears.
Then click START - RUN - and type sfc /scannow and hit OK.
What happens is this: If any system files needed by Windows to function properly have been corrupted or are missing - this method will overwrite/replace them. (if you have no CD, borrow one from a friend as it will still work).
When done, locate your C: drive in Windows Explorer (start - run and type EXPLORER) and the Windows Explorer window will open. In the left panel, click the + sign to the left of My Computer and you will see the 'Local Disk C: drive.
Right click on C: drive and select 'properties'. Select the Tools tab at the top and in the first section (Error Checking) click Check Now button.
Next put a tick in both the boxes in the small dialog box which appears. Then Start. A msgbox will appear - choose YES. Restart PC and go to bed - it may take an hour or so depending on the size of your hard-drive.
Windows will start automatically when the error checking is done.
Open Internet Explorer - goto TOOLS - INTERNET OPTIONS... and from there delete COOKIES, FILES and CLEAR HISTORY. Also, set History to keep for 1 day.
Run a Spyware remover program such as Spyware Doctor or Adaware - free download from here:
http://www.download.com and follow your nose through the website to find, or simply search Google for them.
Install the Spyware and run - ok, that's it!
I guarantee this will do the job - let me know if it does not and I will give up my IT job and become a road-sweeper!

1) First check to be sure that at least 10% of your C drive is free. If you have less than 10% of your C drive that is free space, you will need to delete and move to a CD or floppy some of your files to make room.
2) Then run a couple of anit-spyware programs on your PC. Both Ad-aware and Spybot Seek and Destroy are free downloads. Since they use different list for identifying waht is spyware, one will sometimes catch something the other misses. Then go to Microsoft.com and download Defender to protect against future infections.
3) Finally, defrag the hard drive. Right click on the C drive, select properties, and then Tools. Click on the Defragment now button. Be warned that if your hard drive is badly fragmented it may take several hours for the program to complete.

Try runnig Disk Defragmentation by going to Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter.
And also try to Click on Start - Run ( and type " cleanmgr " without the qotaions ) And try cleaning your internet temps...etc
Try scanning ur system...using anti virus
The best way sometimes I do is that I format my system..
If u don't know how to do it here's a small info:
Create a Start Up disk by inserting a floppy disk and goto My comp.. and rightclick and format and choose StartUp Disk.
after it finishes. Restart ur computer by inserting ur disk and after it boots using the disk it leads u to A: drive and then type in " format c:/s/q " And c: is the drive where ur operating system is installed and " s " is for the system files whereas " q " is for quick.
after That Install ur operating system....
Xp...etc..
If u have any other questions contact me at designursite@yahoo.com

It is very likely that you have some spyware and/or virus operating in your system. You definitely want to take the following steps:
1. start>control panel
2. click on the performance and maintenance link
3. run the "free up space on your hard disk" utility (be sure to check off all the options)
4. run the "rearrange items on your hard disk to make programs run faster" utility
5. check your security settings (control panel>security center) to make sure that your virus protection and anti-virus software is active
6. be sure that your anti-virus program is up-to-date and run a full system scan
7. be sure to update run your anti-spyware program (I like PCTools Spyware Doctor)
8. recall any new programs you installed recently, consider installing the ones that you may have recently installed - it could be that incompatible programs are slowing down your computer
9. you can also restore your computer to an earlier time when things were working well by going to start>all programs>accessories>system tools>system restore (you will lose the programs that were installed prior to the restore date)
10. a drastic measure is to run your recovery CD's and restore your computer to original factory settings

Run a virus check, eliminate all cookies, do a disk cleanup, bot check and defrag. If you still have a problem you may have accidentally eliminated a program you need to run you computer correctly.

Try defragmenting your 'C' drive, getting rid of software and programs you no longer use or that you simply don't use. Get a spyware clean-up and virus scan, something like McAfee. That should help your computer a lot.

scan it for viruses.
Run the disk cleanup system so it gets rid of the unnecessary things in the computer that may be causing that.
