The second you find out you are pregnant (if you want to be) is wonderful. Most get morning sickness. This doesn't just last in the morning and usually will go away by the second trimester. You will feel like your stomach is stretching and some pressure on your pelvis area as the baby grows. Braxton hicks contractions are when you stomach tightens up like a big ball. The real ones feel like really bad cramps until they get worse and then they are really really bad cramps that can last about a minute or two and then a minute or two later you'll get another one. The Dr. will poke you with a needle right down there for a local. It feels like the dentist needle. The epidural is unconfortable to put in and feels funny. Pushing the baby out is paiful, but the quicker you can push it out the sooner the pain will stop. Afterwords you will be sore down south and bleed like a stuck pig. I have never had a c-section. I didn't have a bowel movement but some people do. The Dr. could care less. They push on your stomach so hard to get out the afterbith when you are finish that you will literally have to hold your hands back from stopping them. And I had a kidney stone after I had my kids and it felt worse than the contractions. I hope this helps give some insite.

Okay...first of all, yes some women to void a bit while they are in labor, it's not because the pain is so bad they can't control themselves, it's because they are pushing really hard and if there is any stool in front of the head when it is being pushed out, it will come out as well. Take it from someone who has done it once already, that part of it shouldn't give you any concern. Think of how many thousands of women have babies everyday and most of them probably have it happen.
As for the pain part of delivery, I didn't have much trouble. I found it to be more exciting and just a bit uncomfortable until about hour 12 when I was so tired I couldn't stand it anymore and opted for an epidural, then everything else was just peachy keen jelly bean.
No matter what, just enjoy the experience, despite all the gross things that come along with it, it really is a miracle and on top of that it is the first meeting between you and your new baby.

It's actually a very common occurence to unloose the contents of your bladder and bowels during the pushing stage of labor. Often this effect is intensified by painkillers and epidurals. If you have an epidural you won't even know you're doing it. Trust me, the doctors see it happen all the time, and your focus is typically more on the fact that you're having a baby than on your potential embarrassment.
As for the actual pains of labor, they vary from person to person. Some people have extremely intense, drawn out, painful labor (especially with a first child) and others have a quick, relatively painless labor. It's highly individual.
I haven't experienced labor yet, but I'm due to in about a month. I'm already sure there are no words, even from the most experienced mouths, that could possibly prepare anyone completely for the miracle of childbirth. It's all just hearsay until you experience it.

Not all pregnancies are the same. Every woman's body is different. I have 3 kids. I didn't feel nothing with my first because he was a preemie and I had an epidural. My other two where hard and I cramped through the whole labor. But I'm 4"10 and very small. But it was all worth it in the end.

I have had 4 kids with no pain medicine for any of them. We used Bradley method which helps trememdously with the pain. I have had hunger pains before that were worse. It does not feel like cramps. It is a dull ache like you get when you hold your mouth open wide at the dentist. The crowning is painful, but that only lasts for a couple of minutes. I don't see the use of a lot of pain medicine for avoiding only two minutes of real pain. My pushing contractions were painless. Your body will naturally have loose stools early in labor so there is nothing in there later. I never worried about making a mess.

I just delivered a stillborn baby due to a umbilical cord accident at 20 weeks with no epidural but tons of pain meds and I was in pad pain, it's hard to explain something like severe menstrual cramps times 10000,000
I was only 20 weeks so imagine being full term. I do have a 7 year old daughter and I had an epidural with her and what happens is you loose control of bowel movements sometimes because you have no feeling from your waist down
Good luck

i don't know what releasing yourself means but it wasn't that fun to be honest. i tolerate pain decently. depending on what kind. i had very mild, not uncomfortable contractions for over a week and it wasn't false labor it was pre-labor then when my water broke i went into the 2nd stage of labor with contractions less than 5 min apart. i went to the hospital. you can get an epidural most anytime you want to now days but it slows down your labor. i waited 4 hours before i got one. i couldn't stand it any longer. my contractions were less than 4 sec apart. i didn't feel the delivery. then afterwards i tried to do to much and the after pain was worse than labor. just remember. they will send you home with plenty of drugs so use them. don't try to be anyones hero. cuz you will pay for it in pain! its not so bad though. women's bodies are made to do this and somehow you get through pain you didn't think was possible!

Let me tell you my story...
Now, I got a boy and a girl...
Think back to 2 yrs and 2 months ago...
My older boy doesn't want to come to this world so early... He was in my stomach about 10 months... The doctor said "sorry~~ is time for you to get to the labor room..." I was waiting and waiting.. He still not coming out... until 25 hours contractions... The Dr. said "You are going to have C-section for next 30 minute.." I said "No.....No........" after that I like to have C-section... Much Better that regular labor. One person only can have 2 C-section.. My 2 C-section are DONE.. and now I got one of each.........

Yes when you are pushing a baby out you poop--unless you have had an enema before. It has nothing to do with the pain of labor though. With the first child the pain can be very disorienting, it is very intense but there is no reason you have to be in pain at all. You can even find a doctor to do an elective c-section which is what Dr Li (plastic surgeon) decided to do for safty and cosmetic reasons. I had 5 kids with no pain medicine and with each one it got easier and faster (thanks to God).
