Lexol makes a leather cleaner and a leather conditioner. I use a soft nylon brush to work the cleaner lightly into the surface of the leather, and lots of paper towels or terrycloth rags to wipe it up. (You will be AMAZED, maybe even slightly disgusted, at how grey the liquid is when you wipe it off the seats...)
The Lexol conditioner doesn't change the texture of the leather very much, but it also doesn't leave any residue to get on your clothes. I have also used Meguiar's Gold Care for leather seats/shift boots and the like; it leaves the leather feeling a little more moist and more supple, and still doesn't get on your clothes.

Yes by all means use the shoe polish - if you want the seat and legs of whatever you are wearing to match the seats. Get some leather conditioner and use it on your seats, but you will probably have to also buy some cleaner to take off the turtle wax buildup first so that the conditioner can go into the leather. Leather car seats are subject to weather extremes more so than leather inside of a house and need more nourishing care to keep them in good nick - hope this helps you to decide on what you need to do

Due to weather and exposure. The leather needs to be cleaned every 2 weeks. Its better if you have sun shade protectors that block the front windshield. Even car cover,
