1st in group C will face Mexico, and then possibly the winners of Germany-Sweden in the quarterfinal

2nd in group C will face Portugal, and then possibly the winners of England-Ecuador

I'd rather play England than Germany because England have been weak so far. Little width in the team and the team looks unbalanced. Plus the fact that Sven Eriksson is a liability as a coach.

I'd rather be 2nd, as I think you get the easier quarterfinal opponent in England (should they get passed Ecuador) than the Germans would be, especially as that game would be in Berlin.

Mexico has proved they are weaker through group play against teams that weren't expected to advance. While Germany is on a roll, if Sweden defeats them in a close game (say 1-0 thanks to not too bad defending), then you'd have a better chance of defeating Sweden.

Portugal is going to be tough and England even tougher after they beat Ecuador. England will probably start Gerrard at midfield and pull Crouch if they need to make an adjustment, move Gerrard forward, and they will be adding fresh legs in the midfield w/ maybe Downing. If they are ahead, they'll just play 4-5-1 and leave Gerrard where he is.

Of cause 1st. Portugal is much stronger than Mexico. Plus Mexico will miss couple of players because of the yellow cards.
