I always say "Hi guys" no matter what the people are. It's funny because sometimes girls get affended. I don't want to use "HEY YA ALL" Because that sounds....well, not like me. Nor do I want to say "How's it going folks!" Because....Folks?? Come on now, that sounds like something you would say in the 1900's. I thought I could say something like "Hi everyone" But that sounds like there's a lot of people there. What if there is only two.

As a customer, I prefer servers to be friendly but not chummy. I think a nice "Hello, I am _____ and will be your server tonight, would you like to start off with some drinks while you look at the menu?" or something to that effect. I always suspect the chummy, buddy like servers are just putting on an act to get a big tip.

I used to be a server too. I used to say depending on the time of day (I will used evening just to make it simple) Good evening. How many are in your party sir?

I would always direct my questions to the man. Typically this is old fashioned but people still like it this way.

I would refer to the women as ladies or ma'am. If there are a bunch of women I would address the women who is making direct eye contact. That shows that she is the head of the bunch. I would say...evening ladies. Ma'am, you would perfer smoking or non for your party?

Always make eye contact and treat them as you would want to be treated. They want to know that they are important. If you are having a bad day...leave it at home. Those who want to enjoy a day out do not want an attitude because you are having a bad day. Don't make it a bad day for them. Treat each person as they are the center of attention.

i'm rather particular introductions are not any further needed as we probable are already wide-spread. For us, that is more effective positive as a funky handshake, than a warmth kiss. There comes a level the position you need to judge the source and ignore about such ridiculous antiquated comments.

You could just say, "Good morning" or "Good Afternoon", "I'm so-and-so" and ask them if you can get them anything. Sometimes people appreciate a bit of formality, which is often lacking in today's society.

Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening. Spare the rest; you're there to serve them food, not become their friend. Brand name said it first, 10 points to Brand name.

Keep it simple: "Good morning / afternoon / evening. How are you today?" The word 'you' can be directed to one or multiple individual(s).
