Use clear nail polish once a run starts and that will stop it in it's tracks. To avoid them entirely is nearly impossible. Be careful putting them on and make sure your nails a well manicured to avoid snags. Make sure your hands are not too dry so that the static doesn't make the nylon stick to your skin and abrade the material. Lastly, if cost is not an issue, there are some excellent sources for high quality pantyhose at retailers such as J.Fox and Macy's. My wife pays about $18 a pair and they last her a few months compared to buying a $5-$8 pair which last a few uses. The last concern is how you wash them. Just hand wash them in a basin with warm water, a tablespoon of fabric softener and a nice gentle liquid detergent. Once you have manually agitated them for two minutes (no more than 3 pairs at a time), fold them and press the water out with your hands. DO NOT WRING THEM OUT!! Fold them in half horizontally then fold them vertically of a shower curtain rod or and round horizontal pole. Check ont hem in 30 minutes and at that point you should be able to unfold them to make sure the seems aren't still moist. If they are, just fold them again in the opposite direction and wait another 20 minutes.

Use nail polish. It dries it out quickly. But don't paint your leg.

Yea, switch to stockings or thi highs. They are so much more practical, especially if you have to wear them to work. Just carry a spare in your purse.

Clear nail varnish stops it going further - although if you do that while they are on it sometimes dries onto your leg - lol
