I'm an Employment Consultant in Raleigh, NC. I send people to UPS for package handleing positions. The position, at least here, requires a lot of physical stamana. Continous, non-stop lifting of upto 75 lbs. You begin work at a set time and finish whenever the trucks stop comming. It could be 5 hrs, it could be 12 hrs...and you don't get so much as a bathroom break while you are there. The environment is freezing cold in the winter and hot as all blazes in the summer. Holiday times obviously have alot more work than normal (especially Christmas). On the plus side, the pay is usually very good for that type of work and it is usually the only way to get yopur foot in the door with this company which is generally a very good one.

There is a belt that goes down to each truck, At the "top" of the belt is a person called a "splitter"...they look at the ZIP code on the package and determine what belt it goes down...you will only have things sent to you that belong in the trucks you are loading. In addition to that, inside each truck is a load chart to tell you where exactly to put the package in the truck. It's quite simple, really. PS Congrats on getting hired with them. They have an excellent benefits package and good wages for the work being done. They're union, obvs.

Its a great job. If that's your desired job, go for it. It pays very well and has a good benefit package as well. Good Luck.

It has really good benefits and the salary is not that bad. You are 18 and need to figure out what you want to do in life, but in order to get anywhere in a company you have to start at the bottom and work your way up. Working for the ups leads to a good retirement and etc. If you can lift at least 50 pounds than you should be able to do it.

I don't know how old you have to be....but my friends dad is a ups driver and he loves it so much. There is a lot of heavy lifting but they supply you with a dolly. How you get it from the truck to the dolly??? who knows. But they get excellent benefits and pay so go for it! There's billions of jobs out there. the worst that can happen is you just decide it's not for you....then, just move on

I should to work for UPS .The job is hard but it fun too. You say on your feet for 8 plus hours except for driving. You have to delivery packages from 20-to ?pounds. Drive a box that is like a mailman truck except brown. The paid is great after three yearrs
with your seniroy. But the people are great, and customers are interesting
. Have fun.

It's not the matter of gender, but as you know about the job it depends upon you whether you can do that job or not. If you are really energetic and do not get exhausted, you can proceed. Otherwise, go for another one.
